Hello and welcome! It’s me Marcell, your crime scene cleaner and I welcome you to my podcast Cause of Death. Today I would like to tell you a story from my experiences as a crime scene cleaner. And these experiences have often changed the way I see things. There are hundreds of experiences that I would love to share with you. And today I would like to tell you a story about people’s perspective. It has certainly happened to you that you thought: Man, what kind of idiot is that now? What kind of ass is that? People get you upset in situations that occur in traffic or, or, or, or. The other person is also unsympathetic. And basically, it can often be the case that the view of this person is simply a completely different one and the cause of this view could also contribute very significantly to the fact that you understand him yourself. And once you understood him, you realize: ah, that’s how it was, okay. Now some things come clear to me. Now I understood and sometimes it is even the case that you admit to yourself and say: man, he's right. Well, this is not to say that one should accept everyone's opinion. But as I said, it’s about a person's point of view I'd like to tell a story about it today.

And these experiences have often changed the way I see things. There are hundreds of experiences that I would love to share with you. And today I would like to tell you a story about people’s perspective. It has certainly happened to you that you thought: Cause of Death. The podcast. The crime scene.

It was Monday morning, I had a relaxing weekend, there wasn't that much emergency service, and the ladies at headquarters, the call center, called me and asked: Marcell can you take over the job? We have something really urgent. An elderly lady called and said, there was an emergency. Please come right away. And I thought, no problem. I accepted the job and drove to the location. It must be mentioned that I was in Frankfurt in a typical old villa district and there was a detached house. I drove up with the vehicle in front of the house and at that moment a smaller older lady, about one meter sixty tall, was already waiting for me in the front garden at the garden gate and was totally upset. She was very emotional and shouted: Thank God you are here. Thank God. Please help me. Please help me. Well, in the first instance I asked: What actually happened? In her emotionality she could not give me any information about what had actually happened. She just kept shouting: Max. Max. Upstairs in the kitchen. I had basically deep respect for age. The woman could not give me any information and I thought to myself on the way into the house as we walked up these old, creaky stairs to the kitchen:

what might have happened at that point now? Why does the woman in the emergency service area call us? This could happen every now and then, but as a crime scene cleaner, we are often only called upon when someone has really died. So, I was already making up a movie in my head on the way to the kitchen, and I had pictures of a possible suicide through the experiences before and tried to analyze this name Max. And again, and again I heard this woman calling in the background and telling me: Oh thank God, Mr. Angel, now you are here and Max, Max. So I didn't get anything else out of her and according to the word analysis, it was clear to me that Max could possibly be the husband. No, it couldn't be the husband. The husband Max as a name somehow did not fit into this age category of this older woman. Also I thought it was a very atypical name. And according to this, I thought: for God's sake, it can't be the grandchild. Has something happened to the grandchild?

what might have happened at that point now? Why does the woman in the emergency service area call us? We had arrived at the kitchen door. It was an older wooden door with a glass element in it, a frosted glass window and you could see in the light of the door that somehow in the lower area something dark became visible on the floor. I couldn't imagine what was waiting for me now and I only kept hearing from the lady that she had seen a very terrible event right there. And at first, I couldn't define what would really await me there. I put on my protective work clothing and said: now let me do it. I'll help you. That's no problem at all. And after I had put on my protective clothing in front of the door, I took the door handle in my hand and opened the door very slowly. When it was half open, this time everything was different. This time everything was different as usually. A dead mouse lay on the floor. This mouse no longer had a head. There was a bit of blood on the floor and the woman in the moment she saw it almost collapsed in front of the door. I then closed the door again, entered the other room and said: Watch out, I'll take care of it and then took this mouse and threw it into the trash can, wiped up the blood stain and at first, I thought it was hidden camera. What happened? Max was the neighbor's cat.The old lady had always taken special care of this animal, fed and petted it,

It’s a proof of love. Everything is fine. Somehow, I didn't understand what the problem was. So for me, the situation didn't really look like a crime scene. For me, it was anything but a crime scene. Life impact:When I had done my job of cleaning, I went back to the elderly lady in the hallway, and she was so emotionally distraught. I took her in my arms, gave her a hug and told her everything would be fine. Don't worry about it. I couldn't define exactly what the problem was. She then invited me for coffee and cake. I accepted and listened to her story. The story and the essential thing about this supposed crime scene for her was that she had experienced a lot during the war, her husband came back from the war and then died after decades of living together. Then all of a sudden at the neighbor's house there was this cat and this cat was for her the symbol of purity. It was a substitute for her husband and she was animal loving and very close to nature and had a completely different view on this subject and on this experience as I did. For her it was a huge problem. I then understood that our perspective, when we both look out of the window, can be different. One sees the sunset and the other says: It's already getting dark again. And the other says: Man! The sun's rays, they warm me up so beautifully. I have a great feeling about it. And the other says: Now I'm starting to sweat again. And regardless of whether you see something negative or positive, to accept the point of view of other people and to integrate this point of view into the understanding of the other, that is the essential point. And the nice thing is, when we can understand other people's point of view through proper listening and when we accept that someone else may have a different opinion, it gives us much less tension in life. That's my experience from this incident. After this crime scene experience, I started to accept, listen and understand other people's point of view more again. And that was actually the key to it. The key to my own relaxation, to see and accept other people's point of view. That's it from this episode "people's point of view".
